The poem is beautiful, and the title sounds deep, but I failed to find the link between the title and the text. Please enlighten me. Perhaps I only understood the title from an individual perspective, not collective human beings. Are you adding some new meaning to this phrase and referring to a human/god comparison? But that seems less convincing, as you may say god has no shadow and I may believe it has, for after all god lives in our beliefs. - posted on 06/25/2004

I know I'm a dummy but didn't know I'm such a dummy. Thanks for the help.
Now, assuming me a dummy again. What is the difference between (facial) expression and a virus? As I can easily accept a virus (human) may have a shadow, it is hard to imagine an expression on the face(human) could have a shadow. If Time2 and Time3 do not even consistently share a shadow, how could you contrast Time1 with Time3 and say the key difference is human (which exists in both Time2 and Time3) has a shadow but god does not? So, at least we'd better change the image in Time2 from a thing to a being that can be more readily compared with virus and could also have a shadow. I guess that's why Maya applauded for the image of virus but didn't mention the image of facial expression. She certainly has understood the poem in the first round, not like the foolish me. But it also proves where the strength and weakness is in this beautiful poem, I think.
Hope this dry, unartistic exercise helps the very artful author to see or think what she didn't think of yet.
