lewis carroll 的这首藏头诗我非常喜欢， 有两个翻译的版本， 一个是赵元任的翻译，我不喜欢，因为把它弄成儿歌顺口溜了，太油滑。另一个呢，是在网上找到的。诗里暗藏的深情还是没有充分表达出来。我以为这首歌是情诗里最“色”的一首。 因为它把爱和关切隐藏得这样深。深到穿透时空。 我这几天都在做lewis carroll的梦，梦见自己是carroll。
我自己翻译了一个在后面。想看到您两位的翻译。

I almost feel it’s like re-inventing the whole wheel in Chinese, but leveraging his original form as the blue print.
It’s a tough job, and certainly in nowhere close to become a profitable one either. ;)

This translation has more WOA's mark than Lewis Carroll's. Why not break away from him entirely and compose a new one?
Creation is better than translation.

相见恨晚！二位的翻译都好。WOA 译得尤其美！但恕我直言，可能又点美而不信。我理解原诗确有童稚语气。英诗押韵越多，往往（并非总是）有喜剧效果，甚至“油”，马洛、莎士比亚、弥尔顿雄浑的诗句都是不押韵的。我还是认为赵元任的翻译更忠实原文。即便站在他肩上，我也高不过他。
现代人们常批评郎费罗(Longfellow)的一些诗说教，但他晚年有一首非常精彩，可能人之将死，其言也哀。感叹人生如过客，鲜有出其右者。而我对前人的翻译均不满。在15年前耶鲁大学的一次会议中提到此诗，自译如下，权作交差吧！

The tide rises, the tide falls,
The twilight darkens, the curlew calls,

我正在考虑用“兮”字译那个“死亡赋格”呢，廖先生果然已先走一
步。朗费罗诗译得意韵俱佳，赵元任的诗译也很够味，英文的诗都要
成诵的啊。
（英国人都有个诵诗的传统，听说家庭主妇的菜单都可连诗成诵！）
“死亡赋格”也是一样，王译可诵略缺精炼，北译过精难连成诵。

Good one. This is also one of the poems I like by Longfellow.
(I wrote something earlier about "nevermore", then I just realized I misinterpreted its meaning in the poem. Mr. Liao's translation is accruate. Hurray!)
