It is a big deal for this year's birthday for her, no that the previous are not important. She had been counting the days to her next brithday, right after the party of the previous one.
It is the age that growing up, -- not getting old is to celebrate. As bonus, me, her mom's getting oldder is constantly being reminded -- by all the "happy almost birthday", or/and "happy post birthday" greetings.
I used to envy other moms can hold their kids walking, side by side together. Before I remember how I was enjoying that also, one DECADE passed.
Or I should say the DECADE has come. The first double digit age.
"Come to Caroline's party, Caroline is going to be the DECADE! " Here is another birthday party invitation.
It reminded her that she has not started counting for her next birthday, two months into her decade.
Girls, in decade, means bigger than decade. I already felt my stomach grunting just by the thought of it. The first book she read into the first week of the decade grade was called "Girls". It was about how mean girls can turn into each other in the decade ages.
I was talking to my friend Amy yesterday in school, about midage crisis. I told her for me, the crisis all started when you start worry about not only the kids, but also the elders -- our own parents. It is when you feel you have old kids and young kids together.
Decade girls are wonderous beings, I can see how I would walk on the ice with my own decade girl.
Do I sound like I forgot my own big decade? Or just some decades are bigger than others?

I don't remember when and how I turned 10 and 20. Probably not that important after all. But I remember 30. Life begins at 30. Maybe life peaks at 30. It is the brightest of all birthdays.
