88-Year-Old Man Makes Ballet Dancing Debut
Cambridgeshire: After nine years of lessons 88-year-old John Lowe has made his ballet debut with the Lantern Dance Theatre Company performing Prokofiev's The Stone Flower.
After his daughter became a profesional dancer, Lowe, at that time aged 79, went to a dance school and asked if he could take lessons. The retired teacher was welcomed and says he can't understand why more men don't do ballet.
"There's nothing effeminate about it - you have to be incredibly fit to dance. I see these people crawling around, hunched over smoking a cigarette - they should be doing ballet," said Lowe.
