nice, saw many familiar names - Re: The 10th issue of Yidian Digestposted on 04/25/2008
Thanks. I served as its editor this time. Many authors are guests in cafe here too. - Re: The 10th issue of Yidian Digestposted on 04/25/2008
Nice one. Just PDF took a bit too long, but quite imrepssive. Look like professional editor. :)
- Re: The 10th issue of Yidian Digestposted on 04/25/2008
Thanks for your encouragement. I'm proud of my product and took your comment seriously too. Editing a literture journal is a career path that I dreamed about in youth but never had a chance to take. This is fun to act like a kid again.

Oh I am always serious you know. :)
It does tkae time to align all the words. It's largely a clean cut and the PDF seemingly got no problem rendering on my English XP machine. That's time and effrots. :) - Re: The 10th issue of Yidian Digestposted on 04/25/2008

Oh, dear. Who is this hard-working guy then? Is it Mr SunLover? - Re: The 10th issue of Yidian Digestposted on 04/25/2008
It was Weili. Many others joined in proofreading, including Sunlover and me. - Re: The 10th issue of Yidian Digestposted on 04/25/2008

- Re: The 10th issue of Yidian Digestposted on 04/25/2008
- Re: The 10th issue of Yidian Digestposted on 04/25/2008
- Re: The 10th issue of Yidian Digestposted on 04/25/2008
- Re: The 10th issue of Yidian Digestposted on 04/26/2008
- Re: The 10th issue of Yidian Digestposted on 04/26/2008
xiaodi, can you put my writings there too? and also july, - Re: The 10th issue of Yidian Digestposted on 04/26/2008
Thanks for your encouragement and for being the first of saying it.

Of course, as long as you post your best writings there. I'm actually going to select a piece by July from her collections there for the next issue if I'm still the editor.

Yes, at least for now. You may ask July to post it for you as your agent, I think. She can talk to Weili and host there.

Excellent!! This is very good stuff.
I enjoyed reading this issue, beautifully illustrated and artistically decorated. I’m sure this involved a lot of work. But it’s definitely worth it. It gives all the works a sense of permanence.
It’s always good to read something that looks like a real book. Formality matters in many cases, even though substance is important.

Thank you for your comments. You are absolutely right that formality matters. Not only pictures help words, but words help words too. This is certainly where the sum as a whole is greater than the parts loosely hanging together, and the whole carries some weights and authentic flavor that the parts will never get on their own. One big disadvantage for web writers today is exactly the lack of that. In retrospect, those celebrity writers today who won their fame in traditional literature magazines would have not necessarily gotten their fame if their pieces of writing only appeared alone. I hope I'm contributing to changing that and be helpful to writer friends here as well.

That's very true.
Free and easy publication on the Internet democratizes the dissemination of ideas and expressions. However, the incessant flow of unedited writings with no peer review or quality control into the Internet dilutes, and in many cases, diminishes the value of quality writings. At the very least, the Internet has dumped into the public domain huge volumes of literary trash at an unprecedented rate.
There should be a mechanism that promotes and retains quality writings. Although the effectiveness and operating philosophy of any mechanism will always be a subject of debate, I believe the traditional approach of selecting and editing manuscripts prior to formal publication is clearly part of such a mechanism.
