- Re: Mock debate: Obama vs. McCain (1) tax raise for those earn > $250,000posted on 06/14/2008
Democratic Sen. Barack Obama on Friday called for higher payroll taxes on wage-earners making more than $250,000 annually, a step that would affect the wealthiest 2 percent of Americans. - posted on 06/14/2008
LM for McCain:
Mr. Obama has confirmed his magical number $250,000, yes, he said he WILL raise tax for those who earn $250,000 and above, and Mr. Obama specifically pointed out that it ONLY affects 2% of wealthy families.
What a convenient campaign slogan! It is saying “I am spreading 2% of wealthy people’s money to everybody else, I am on your side, come and vote for me”. I guarantee you that those top 2% agree with him, here is why.
Let’s say that those 2% are doctors, lawyers, movie stars, sports stars….., fair enough, right? you think they just stay put going happy when their tax is raised, we all know they are smart people, and they are not saints. You know what’s going to happen, your doctor visit cost will be up, lawyer hourly rate will be up, movie ticket cost will be up, sports ticket will be up…., everything will be up in chain reaction, in the end, wealthy people have good images by supporting tax raise to themselves, and Mr. Obama has a good image by ‘on the middle class’s side’, and all those tax raise will be transferred to middle class.
As a Harvard law graduate, Mr. Obama knows how free market works, yet he still yell out these empty slogans, and you know why.

LM for Obama,
Looks like Mr. McCain knows free market very well, but not surprisingly, he ignored that there is another important part along side the free market, and let me tell you, Mr. McCain, it is called democracy, and it works hand in hand with free market.
Free market gives every body a freedom, a chance to play a role in the economic world, that’s a fundamental system, we all know that, unfortunately, free market gives wealthy people more freedom, more shares of chance than working class people, and we need democracy to leverage regular people’s power in free market by their vote, and by government’s regulation, more tax on those earn over $250,000 will be my proposed regulation, and voters will vote for my proposal.
