来美时间长了,我也和这里大部分中国人一样,说中文时夹着英文单词,孩子们也染上了这种不良习惯,同我说话时,英文夹着中文词,比如,I am not 坏, I am 擦ing the table。
好在爷爷奶奶同我们一起住了,大家也就格外注意,说话不能冒英语单词,孩子们也不说英语。听着她们结结巴巴的中文,才知道孩子们的中文词汇,大部分是从父母们日常对话里学来的,经常学的一知半解。
一天女儿从朋友家回来,兴奋地问我,Daddy, what animal do I count?
我没反应过来,count animal?
Yes, my friend told me that every Chinese counts an animal, and she counts rat.
翻译成中文,我才恍然,捂着肚子告述她,you count pig.

也供献一个儿子的中文笑话, 他大了以后这种情况越来越少了。
有一天复习中文词句, 儿子象往常一样小和尚念经, “我高高头头上学”, 我没听明白, 一看才知道“兴”和”头“ 还真象。也是笑得肚子疼。 - Re: Count Pigposted on 10/12/2008
