I don't have any problem with the ideas conveyed in this film at all. What I don't care much about is the execution of the ideas. To me it lacks originality and subtlety. Preaching is fine, as long as you don't let me see through it. :)
Your words remind me of Gibran's "On Eating and Drinking" in "the Prophet". It was perhaps the first text on humanity I've ever read and sure had a profound impact on me.
Come to think of it, imagine you are the devil and you want to design a hell where all its residents would have minimal chances of living in love and harmony, what would you do? You make it a principle that organisms have to consume other orgainsms in order to survive. There is something very clever and sinister about this design...
