WuKong: How do you view Chinese language websites on the Dell Axim handheld? Many thanks.

Prof 81zi:
Sorry I think I did not make it very clear on the other thread. I am only able to read English text on my Dell handheld, not Chinese. The OS on my Axim is Windows Pocket PC edition, with a very rudimentary IE as the built-in web browser. There might be a way to install a chinese plug-in. but I have never tried to find out how.

Thanks, wukong. You just costed me more than $400! :-)
I guess we can always buy a handheld in the Chinese market if we really cannot live without surfing mayacafe. - Re: question for wukongposted on 02/26/2007

Sorry to hear that. I take the blame. :-) In order to make it up, I'll try to do some research to see what i can come by. What's the model of your handheld and what OS does it use?

no problem, wukong. l needed a new handheld anyway. :-)
I have a dell axim x51v running windows mobile 5. Ok to view major newspaper sites, as they seem to have taken care to fit their content to a handheld. email is decent.
would be nice to view mayacafe or cnd, though. - Re: question for wukongposted on 03/05/2007
I just installed CE-star (v28wm5), developed by Moben), on my mobile, and I am now able to view Chinese websites. supposedly I should be able to type in Chinese too, but I havn't figure that out yet. - Re: question for wukongposted on 03/05/2007
Thanks °ËÒ¯. You are ahead of the game again. :-)

81 and wukong,
you can try the ce-star suite 2.8 on your handheld pc. I just install it on my ipaq hx2490 which is very nice.
Once you install it, you can not only view chinese in IE, but in any application in your handheld pc. it includes pinyin input methods, and also hand writing recongnisation.
However, it is not a free ware, you can download the trial version first for 15 days. - Re: question for wukongposted on 03/06/2007
woops, did not read all posts before reply :) have not noticed that 81 has already installed ce-star.
81: if you click the "keyboard" when you input text, you should be able to see the option "pinyin" or "Mentian Shouxie" etc....

Thanks, Ed. will try it later. - Re: question for wukongposted on 03/06/2007

Finally got the trial version installed after several failed attempts. Pretty neat stuff indeed. Thanks to both 81zi and Ed. Really appreciated.
But I am not sure whether i am going to purchase the full version or not. I am afraid that I would burn much more time online if I had it. :-)

that is why you can try the trial version first to see how much time you will spend more on line with the Chinese support comparing without it:)
15 days will give you enough judgement, hehe.
For myself, i found it is very useful because you can read your email in chinese:)
