Pulling the drum under the heat of sun,
My soul tranquil and my body smoldering.
The dragon dances to the beat of the drum,
To the delight of little Zoe and little Ben.
The monks chant again and again,
They pray to the merciful Buddha GuanYin,
For peace, for prosperity,
For a good race in yet another season.
The drums beating and the boats racing,
They race ahead to save the beloved Poet.
His image long vanished,
Only his questioning echoes between the earth and the heaven.
To the world before time,
Who delivers the Tao of beings?
Who commences progress and evolution?
Dynasties inaugurated and kingdoms fell apart,
Who bestows the fate of heroes and kings?
Who destines regress and revolution?
Who poisoned the minds and the thinking?
Who sinks the society and the beings,
Into digress and convolution?
He asked the heaven again and again,
But all resonated in emptiness and vain,
Like the ancient tides in the river Miluo,
Where he sank himself into oblivion,
Yet we never ever forget him,
And race to save him from that on.
She got her umbrella and he got his sward,
Little Zoe and little Ben full of awe.
They had all the joy but won’t remember the lesson,
And next year we’ll get to do it again.

- Re: Dragon Boat Festival on Sloan Lakeposted on 07/30/2008

- Re: Dragon Boat Festival on Sloan Lakeposted on 07/30/2008

- Re: Dragon Boat Festival on Sloan Lakeposted on 07/30/2008
。。。 - Re: Dragon Boat Festival on Sloan Lakeposted on 07/30/2008

- Re: Dragon Boat Festival on Sloan Lakeposted on 07/30/2008

。。 - Re: Dragon Boat Festival on Sloan Lakeposted on 07/30/2008
