很久以前买了一本他的诗集,时时不经意地翻,却喜欢。只知道他是一个波兰诗人,才又发现,他的发表在《纽约客》上的诗---Try To Praise The Mutilated World,在9.11后很受推崇,他现在就是芝加哥大学的教授,讲授另一个著名的诗人,他的同胞,1980年文学奖得主Czesław Miłosz的诗,对了,他是个犹太人。
Try to praise the mutilated world.
Remember June's long days,
and wild strawberries, drops of wine, the dew.
The nettles that methodically overgrow
the abandoned homesteads of exiles.
You must praise the mutilated world.
You watched the stylish yachts and ships;
one of them had a long trip ahead of it,
while salty oblivion awaited others.
You've seen the refugees heading nowhere,
you've heard the executioners sing joyfully.
You should praise the mutilated world.
Remember the moments when we were together
in a white room and the curtain fluttered.
Return in thought to the concert where music flared.
You gathered acorns in the park in autumn
and leaves eddied over the earth's scars.
Praise the mutilated world
and the grey feather a thrush lost,
and the gentle light that strays and vanishes
and returns.
今天下班在车上读,意想天开,在一首《十二月》的书页上,胡乱地写了如下的句子:
九月即将过去
2008,9,29
在这九月的最后一天
我思乡般地怀念九月
城市的黄昏里
青翠的夏日
已经失去
夏日的阳光如花朵
从明天起
树叶变黄,坠落
如同飞鸟,如同果实
我会穿上厚厚的衣服
走另一条路
其实,我也不知道我在写什么,只是想,以后翻书,看到这页,就会想起这个九月的黄昏。

下了班,坐2路或4路回家,经过芝加哥河,很多船停在那里,天已经有些暗了,这些句子莫名其妙地出现了:
