I am also a Fallaci fan. Her straigtfoward, and oft-provocative style was at once unique and powerful, in its own right.
During last few years of her life, Fallaci grew increasingly critical of the radical Islamism. She wrote two books in an effort to warn the western world of the possible overtaking by the Islamic culture.
She conferred personally with Pope Benedict and was impressed by his outspokenness against Islamic militancy. This has appalled many of her devotees, who saw her as a a lifelong atheist. Fallaci later called herself a "christian athiest". (Only God knows what that means.)

Are you talking about the novel "A Man" published in 1979? It is a novel based on the biography of Alexandros Panagoulis, who fought against the Regime of the Colonels in Greece. Fallaci probably wrote the novel a little too whole-heartedly, so much so that no one could tell whether it was her story or the story of her subject. :-)

Alexandros Panagoulis was Fallaci's lover in real life. I read some books about Fallaci and they all mention their love affair.

Yes, he lived with her for three years after his incarceration until his death, apparently a murder.

Erica Jongд
Famous men may find tootsies, gold diggers and plaster casters at every turn, but famous women attract louts, losers and men of indeterminate sexuality who want to publicly prove themselves. Maybe its different for actresses-acting is one field that heightens femininity-but the well-known woman writer is likely to wind up like the romance writer in Fay Weldons life and lovers of a she-devil: seduced and abandoned and broke. - Re: 意大利女记者法拉奇去世posted on 09/27/2006

In an obscure way a man is the creation of several women, most notably his companion. Maya, use your beauty and chrisma to discover a Mr. Right, and then use your talent to transform him into your Mr. Wonderful.

Perhaps another way to look at it? All you have to expeiernce and eudure are lessons you have to learn for greater good, and growth. You may not appreciate them now. Between people, the encountering, having their life path crossed, etc. are not random events. - Re: 意大利女记者法拉奇去世posted on 09/28/2006
