Why I Hate the Blacks", 不得不解除Eng 的专栏合同,同时登大幅道歉广告。

I did it too. This is what I wrote in the comment area:
This is produced by "the dog house with JV & Elvis" of http://923freefm.com/, which can be heard at:
http://podcast.923freefm.com/wfny/370138.mp3
It is the recording of a conversation of someone who calls himself Jeff and a Chinese restaurant. Jeff in the conversation repeatedly insulted the people in the restaurant, mentioning " your hot Asian spicy ass”, "see you naked" to a woman and "tiny egg roll in your pants" to the man. Here are some excerpts from the conversation:
I need shrimp fried lice
Chinese tiny egg roll in your pants
That way I can see your hot Asian spicy ass
Should I come to your restaurant so that I can see you naked。
This conversation is not only obscene, indecent and profane, but also, much worse, a mean-spirited racial insult to all people of Chinese origin living in the US. This kind of programming is totally unacceptable by any descent citizen in this society. I demand an apology from “The Dog House with JV & Elvis” to all their listeners, especially those of Chinese origin.

Part of my letter to the higher-ups...
In any case, I listen to all types of talk radio and most of the shows on your station, and I was thoroughly disappointed to hear an apology to start the show and then a "best of" afterwards. Where is the line when we stop catering to people that DON'T listen to a show, only piggybacking on a seemingly personal slight, and to those people that actually DO listen to a show?
As an Asian American, I wasn't offended by the bit. Do I wish stereotypes of Asians were different and not so passive? Sure. I take pride in being an Asian-American, but I'm an individual and understand I can change the perceptions of others and breaking preconceived notions by the way I act. Plus, this is a comedy/entertainment show... not social commentary. I do not necessarily put weight in what talk radio hosts say, but it's dependent on the subject. And as I have a choice, so too do people who feel attacked in the realm of comedy. Yes, there should be guidelines, but if every ethnicity is being made fun of (come to think of it, "shock jocks" are fairly notorious for being self-deprecating as well), why should ONE hold power over another? Why must you bow down to any one group? Eventually then, the inevitable conclusion would be your non-existence.
However, I'm not unaware of the business component here. Money talks. But, is it possible to answer the following:
An advertiser pays for the potential amount of listeners that it can reach through a certain radio program, correct? Then how can a group of NON-listeners affect said radio programs so much?

I believe this is just confirming that freedom of speech is going down the drain. Soldiers died for our freedom. Why can't CBS/Free FM fight for it as well? Stand your grounds. What's with the sudden attack on radio anyway? TV is much more big on this kind of humor. I don't see anyone attacking any TV stations.
I just got finished sending emails to both Tom and John about this whole thing. Each email took about 10 mins each to write. Considering I want to do this kind of radio with my life, this whole thing with Imus and now the Dog House is big to me.
As Flesh said above, I hope CBS/Free FM sticks up for them rather than taking the weak way out and firing them. I bet I can safely say as well that if they are let go, it's one more nail in the grave for Free FM, radio and freedom of speech.

I think I know why they made it a big deal now then when it happen. Since the whole Virgina Tech shootings with an "Asian" person doing all the damage the media wants to shun out anything that is against "Asians" they dont want to protray that Asians are bad people and that they might retaliate back. Just look why didnt the public or police release that it was an Asian man that did the killings? One answer they didnt want to hurt any Asian's feelings and single them out as being bad people. But then again if it was a white man that did the killings his name, face, and race would be the first thing that pops up. I am not against any race we are all people no matter what. I have friends from all races and we all make fun of each other. I dont see any of my friends suing me or kicking my ass for making fun of them. I get made fun of all the time. I DONT CARE! And the people that are trying to do this to the Dog House should not care as well.
I wrote up above.
Censorship = Communist.
If they take freedom of speech away from us, what else will they take? Freedom of speech was given to the people in order for us to speak up against the people that govern. If we do not have that what will we have. Answer Monarchy We might as well put the crown on Bush's head and call him king. Didnt our fore fathers of the U.S. leave because of this?
We must have freedom of speech to live if not we will be the next ex Soviet Union! - David San Jose, CA.

- posted on 04/24/2007
egg roll in your pants 会被听成egg roll in your pans
I want to order some Asian food, son of a bitch I want to order some Asian food, some of each。

- posted on 04/24/2007

(Obscene, Profane, and/or Indecent Material Complaint Form)是个好办法,因为有明确的立法。 - Rejoice, we are victorious!posted on 04/24/2007

The Dog House Show with JV & Elvis:http://www.chinapressusa.com/shequ/200704280026.htm
In particular:
- posted on 05/08/2007

Dear Consumer:
Thank you for contacting the Federal Communications Commission to share your concerns about program material. It's against federal law to air obscence programming at any time. It is also against federal law to air indecent or profane programming during certain hours. The Commission is charged with enforcing the law that governs these types of broadcasts.
Your views and concerns about program material are important to us. The Commission will review what you have submitted carefully to determine whether it contains sufficient information to suggest that there has been a violation of the obscenity, indecency or profanity laws. If it appears that a violation may have occurred, the Enforcement Bureau will start an investigation, which may include a letter of inquiry to the broadcast station. Further information is available on the Commission's web site at http://www.fcc.gov/eb/oip/process.html.
Again, thank you for contacting us about this important issue.
Sincerely,
[signature]

Consumer Inquiries and Complaints Division
Consumer & Governmental Affairs Bureau

It seems the anti-Chinese racial slurs were not the reason but it's the "indecent or profane programming" was considered the cause for concern for FCC.
How interesting.
It sort of reminds me of Al Capone who was nailed for the tax evasion but never for his gangster crimes. - posted on 05/13/2007
