Anyway, tonight I learnt the jargon for this script. Captcha image validation. Widely used. But I would assume there are image recognition scripts or codes already to crack simple Captcha. Here is not google, luckily. :) - Re: PHP script to block automated postposted on 11/29/2007

It generates random number everytime...
I use English upper case, lower case as well as number combinations, No chinese, for the sake of easily typing.

Don't use this - it's too advanced for this small web server. Only Google needs that.
The key requriement to this function is simple-to-use for us, rather than scare-off spammers once-for-all.
I would reckon a simple image with random numbers in it would be sufficient. Noise pixels or not doesn't matter. It's quick to render to client, and easy to see for the people. Performance and Usability always come first. :)
And you don't want to kill off the emeny once-for-all - you only need the easiest way with minimum cost as a start. Then increase your power step by step as the devil grows. :) - Re: PHP script to block automated postposted on 11/30/2007
