well, very briefly, CND is like a bazar where you hang on from time to time, and sometimes you can see a pearl, but most of the time you see what a Turkish like bazar can have.
Cafe, as the name speaks, it is supposed to be a cafe where you sit down with no particular purpose but taking your time, having a coffee, chatting around if you are in the mood to do so, expressing your view if you like, or just passing by. What it attracts me in the cafe is here I can enjoy some readings in mother tongue and appreciate others' skills in playing with words of written Chinese. - Re: Let's talk, what is the difference between Cafe and CND?posted on 04/16/2008

well, I like the Cafe the way it is now(with all those complicated dizzling big hats before each articles removed).
i think Coffee concentrates more on literature , poetry and art, gardening, traveling experiences etc, hot political topics are bought up once a while, but I guess most guests here might not be politicans.
Compared with CND, Cafe has advantages, first, most if not all guests have good taste, the articles posted are good, secondly, in relation to that, there are not too much personal attacks in debates which appeared in CND a lot. Thirdly, there are quite a few graceful charming ladies in our cafe, which makes it more attractive.
Overall, since Cafe guests are smaller gruop, we have built some kind of understanding and trust between each other, but the other side of the coin is that , since it is a smaller group, it is not as lively as CND, which means it doesn't get refreshed often. But I don't think coffee editors should try too hard to increase the amount of articles by importing from CND, many of us write, once a while, we can chose a topic to inspire each other to write original pieces. Also, reading good articles is more important than getting more information. - posted on 04/16/2008

If we looked at them as cultivars of plants.
CND is pretty much like an original, and it has been kept that way. It is this way perhaps by the book or the blood, however the soil has not even renewed to maintain the nutrition level. You don't normally expect anything new from it. If you are not crazy about this type, you will find it pretty boring.
Cafe is more like an interspecific hybrid (of hellebore). The soil is not maintained on a manicure level, but new baby species kept generated by different mother and father (few but charming:) plants, new or old, long time residents or just a short term visitors. The fact that you never know what color of the baby flowers will look like until they bloom keep the place interesting and vivid. Cafe, like hellebore, is colorful and passionate. It is versatile and playful. It carries itself low and light, yet graceful and hardy. - posted on 04/16/2008

Is this why I found myself out of place and maybe even a little unwelcome here from time to time? :-)
(Even)Good writers beg to be appreciated by understanding readers. The writers may not be here just to seek other people's approval, still it feels good when their presence is appreciated. Cafe is not a writer's forum in this sense, IMHO. Rather it's a place where people meet, exchange some ideas on a wide range of topics, dump their personal feelings (including love stories), post some nowhere-to-be-published photos, donate some grains of rice and such.

- Re: Let's talk, what is the difference between Cafe and CND?posted on 04/17/2008

July
to be continued。 - Re: Let's talk, what is the difference between Cafe and CND?posted on 04/17/2008

- posted on 04/17/2008

I vote Bob Dylan too。

Maya
不过, 从CND上却发现了Maya cafe(忘了具体是怎么发现的, 可能是有链接).

- Re: Let's talk, what is the difference between Cafe and CND?posted on 04/20/2008
