老虻说诗人是群严肃的人,写诗反映了他们生活中严肃的一面,我很同意。想补充一点的是,诗歌还反映了诗人乐观的一面。诗歌是人类最美好的传统,是人类心灵和高贵情感的preservation。诗,如轻盈的飞鸟,越过无垠的时空的旷野,将古往今来的无数人心连接起来,并向上提升。这是一种壮丽的力量。诗人该比任何人更敏感,更能看到生命的虚无,也因此更有能力来counter-balance这种虚无,将自己的思想和想像化为诗歌,使之成为别人的inspiration。诗人用凡人的口说着神的语言,给无意义的生活带来意义。这一切于人们的精神世界都是乐观的,建设性的。

Rilke is yet another poet I like. Here's his famous "Buddha" -
As though he listened. Stillness: something far ...
We hold our breath; our hearing though's too dim.

老鲁的长篇中时有让人想一想笑一笑的句子,上次那鹰和鸡的理论,这次又来一句“不能允许自己去爱一个会真正爱的人”,有意思。把自己交出去,会受伤,苦,将自己锁起来,也是抑郁,也是苦。爱得多的那人总是更VULNERABLE。横竖都是苦,还不如爱一次,颤抖一下,增加生活经历,嗯?:)

看得出玛雅中浪漫主义的毒不浅。好诗人不是都颤抖的。都象拜伦那样颤抖这地球会承受不了。EMILY DICKINSON一生隐居,也没太多恋爱经历,平静地活了五十多岁,倒是留下一堆让人颤抖的诗。ROBERT FROST活了很长,一生也没多少颤抖的故事,他的诗中却佳作极多。WALLACE STEVENS在一家保险公司干了一辈子的枯燥工作,退休前做到SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT,写诗全在业余,这样的生活哪有颤抖可言?但他是个很好的诗人。
最好的诗是诗人的心灵,诗人的思想,如蚌中的珍珠。不管风平浪静,还是波涛汹涌,只要是真蚌,珠子总会孕育而出。

嗯。问得好。她的美给别人带来愉悦,带给她自己的却是无尽的烦恼。美生于俗世是件悲哀的事。就象你提到的“经历”,她的红尘经历让她向往灵魂净化,向往天国,应当不难理解。以我看泰绮思的结局是个悲剧,她也确是个悲剧人物。另一个悲剧人物当然是那修道士,凡根未净就做了和尚,哈哈。一个人如果没有走过自己的情欲练狱,等于从来没有战胜过情欲。至于那些纯洁的和尚么,也是有的,比如达赖。这时我们就不得不对所谓“宿慧”半信半疑了。听玛雅说你崇

我有一盘她的老柴第一钢琴协奏曲,是我的favorite, “生猛”这词用得好。以前听到她的故事,近乎不信。这女人真是a bundle of energy.

哈。XW认真,真是玛雅的兄弟?:)
这是我上班时草草写的,还未来得及润色。不过一般我写了东西,就仍在一边,很少再费脑筋修改。XW的诗好,仍要精雕细琢,佩服。
