I was thinking about same thing. :) I am reading Damassio's Looking for Spinoza, the author seems to me an excellent researcher and an able thinker, though his writing's not too attactive at times. Many of his ideas are inspiring which more than compensate the writing style. Still in the middle of the book.

Mozart may always appear resplendent and gay to his contemporaries, but he never produced cheap candy work. BTW, I listened to his clarinet concerto again, it does sound melancholic if you pay closer attention.

Though Freud enjoyed a wider fame in the field of psychology, James' work probably has more value. Yesterday I forgot to mention that Wittgenstein was also influenced by James' thinking, probably more so than by Freud, since Wittgenstein was mainly impressed by Freud's methodology in his psychological analysis, not Freud's findings and hypothesis.
