It is even replacing conversation! I've seen children texting each other while sitting in the same car, young dates flirting with each other via texting while sitting at the same table in a restaurant:-) And there is cell phone novel, the first literary genre to emerge from the cellular age. How sad that they left China far behind, came so close to a life of their choice, but were still crushed by the social constraints back there. My ex-roommate was from Quebec. She had no trouble with her family but still took years to settle down with a partner. Now they live a bourgeois life in a country house near Geneva:-) Äã¶Ô¸Ð¾õµÄÃèдÕæϸÄå, ·Ö´çÒ²ÕÆÎÕµÃͦºÃ:-)

Compared with Americans, a lot more Europeans live together and have children without marriage. It seems strange that people still need to get married for sex. Then why is marriage still such a powerful concept?

It is indeed incredible to think how barbaric the British society was just 50 years ago (not that any other countries were doing any better then, and a lot are doing worse now in human rights). The forced female hormone injections seem such a violation of an individual and so wrong by today's standard. BTW, abee is not ÀäѪ at all. She is a true intellectual: learned, worldly but not cynical:-).
