- [RE:] Patrick SwayzePosted by sands on 09/15/2009. sands commented once.Outdated, huh?? Look, people all over the world are pouring their hearts mourning their loss of Patrick Swayze (to them definitely he's not outdated--many vow they would keep his memory in heart forever) yet you guys were talking trash here. Swayze was a ballet-dancing cowboy, you may call him a blue-collar alright, but SO?! You think you are superior to blue collars? Truly snobbish. Makes me wonder whether this is a cultural thing or a class/SES thing. How can people be so callous and hard hearte

So far only two states (Oregan and Washington) allow such death/suicide legally.

Sexual harrassment and violence against women is crime in the first place. Personally I think what Deng did is legal self-defense. also, it's interesting to see how people react to a similar case by reading their discussions on "Sleeping wit

But the story went on to indicate all her wrong doing is due to her dyslexia. Ridiculous. Though the movie was beautifully made, with Winslet and Fiennes' impeccable acting.
- Posted by July on 03/22/2009. sands commented once.Right! About 70% mothers are working mothers, providing role models for their sons and daughters. Their sons will grow up expecting to marry an independent woman, to share life with each on an equal status (and household chores, of course); their daughters will grow up smart and independent, attractive to guys who know they are smart and competent. The future of gender equity is quite bright. : )

I find it very disturbing that so many would rush to blame the victim! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victim_blaming I wonder why people could be this callous, this cruel, in their defending the murderer and defaming the victim. It reminds me of the Kanke description in Lu Xun's writings or they may even be worse. Is this a Chinese thing or a universal phenomenon? ¡°ÏÖ´ú¿´¿Í¡±:http://www.cunews.edu.cn/html/rdzj/20060109/001711.html

Yes, increasing contact is a good way to reduce stereotype (cognition) and prejudice (attitude). I find a program called "mix it up at lunch" at teaching tolerance website: http://www.tolerance.org/teens/about.jsp. Middle schoolers and high schoolers are invited to sit with people other than their usual cliques or "lunch buddies" duri
