- Posted by rzp on 10/06/2006. rzp commented once.( 2004.11.18 ) It's been a while I have not been taking commuter trains and subways. I missed the chatting with friends and the quiet time for reading, and best of all, that subway languages. In the Grand Central Station big hall, the three national guards still post at the same corner. No weapons seen, no long guns, not even standing straight. (OK, it is a day without threat.) Walked down to the subway platform, it was nearly empty. (ooops, just missed one train. ) The train did not come until

- I would think they are people at the edge of the bell curve, for whatever measure in the context. But there can be different definitions from different people. Even for that which is defined by bell curve, how big the edge is may vary too. This actually is a good question. Even though it may not be important for one to be or not to be at the edge.

- I don't think it is dandelions (蒲公英). The journey of dandelions achenes ends long before autumm arrives, and they do not make that landing sound. It (the poem) reminds me a tree in my back year. A seed is one single wing. When it flies, it swirls, but quite elegantly. There are many of them for one tree. And they do fly down, not fall down, no matter there is wind or not. It is a very dreamy scene, watching them, with blue sky, breeze... I have been trying to find a picture I took after read

- 911 Memoire, some of the over-reactions post 9/11 ... A sister of one of my colleagues, who worked at Federal Reserve New York (two blocks away) at that time, was literally shaking whenever she heard the siren (which was basically the only sounds you heard in the city for the first several days after 9/11). One of my daughter's preschool classmate, who was also four at the time, could not speak for several weeks; another one, frightened by seeing white powder-like stuff including the white mist from
