Posted by zxd on 03/17/2007. zxd commented once. Thanks for posting their original text. I feel I can understand Wang better now, and I share qinggang's feeling about Han's usual manner of 出言不逊,不招人喜欢, but, as 浮生 said, "王蒙的发言够逗的,那开头怎么那么“东风吹,战鼓擂”呀:)" Hahaha... What I see now is Wang's terrible aging. How terrible and sad aging is! I'm afraid aging means shrinking, and if you didn't grow large enough while young, you would be a dwarf when you are old.

- My point is not a criticism of Qian or other masters. My point is that our culture only admires such masters but does not give enough respect to those who have original ideas. In my view this is a critical flaw in our great culture. If we only admire great performers (surely they deserve our admiration) but do not admire original thinkers, we tend to be trapped in self pleasure and enjoyment of what has been achieved but fail to make breakthoughs to advance ourselves.

- [RE:] 道德的暧昧性 (艾云)Posted by 玛雅 on 03/02/2007. zxd commented once.Maya, Have lost contact with you for a while. Hope you are fine and get over it soon. (I mean the recent episode in your life if it is true. I'm not sure because fiction writers sometimes say things that's fictional and I have no way to tell.) Give me an email if you want. In response to your quote I have a different opinion. To me, what you quoted is act

- Wonderful poem! Haven't read such a good one for a long while. Congratualtions! Also glad to see relevant responses. This begins to taste just like what I would like to taste in this Cafe. One question. I don't understand the title. Could someone explain it in Chinese or simply turn it into English? Thanks.

Posted by qinggang on 09/04/2006. zxd commented once.So glad to see that Qing Gang is learning. This may sound condescending but I have to say it. It is so pleasent to see a talent mind figure it out by itself eventually. I don't know how young is Qing Gang and how old is Lin Da, but it seems that history is made in such a that way that it takes time for the young to learn. As long as information is free to go, truth will eventually occur to a talent head.

- Good sketch. One of the best in all the litarary works I've ever read. One question, though. If you make so much money as you say, why do you need to ask Lao Fat for his approval to buy a pair of boots and has to feed him well before you may get it? Sounds like one piece of detail that might not be so truthful but just being made up and added to exagerate and achieve the drama you seek to achieve in your writing, isn' it? Hope you don't mind what I've said.

- Posted by zili on 07/27/2006. zxd commented 2 times.Zili, Thanks for discussing this serious matter with me. I think part of our difference came from my literature background and appreciation of greater sympathy as the necessity for a great writer. Each generation has its limitation and great characters of its own. Philosophical analysis of which element of thought is closer to truth or "right" is one thing, and which historical character has merits and is respectful is another. People holding conflicting ideas could be both respectful. In my view from li

- [RE:] 人民文革者思想探源 (补充版)Posted by 自立 on 07/26/2006. zxd commented once.Zili, Finally, I seem to understand you and why you have tried so hard to distinguish or analyze this confusing concept called People's Revolution. I can see now the importance of your work and effort. I mostly agree with you and support your ideas, especially the first part--思想探源. Congratulate for such thorough analysis! Only one thing I would like to discuss with you further, that is about the so called “两头真”. I don't know where this term came from, but I think you need to distinguish "earn

- [RE:] 唐德??:安徽鹕死人的??Posted by zili on 03/10/2006. zxd commented once. It's terrible that youth in China today do not even know this recent history. The famine was only 45 years ago, and 青冈 is perhaps about 25. That means we already wipe out history within 30 years. That's the problem with a nation. I noticed some dirty language recently appearing in this cafe and I don't like it. (I support Maya to clean up this cafe.) But that's just a problem with a few individuals. Forgetting and intentionally wiping out history is not a problem with a few individuals but a serious probl

Posted by fanghuzhai on 03/04/2006. zxd commented once. This happened to me too. Could someone here who knows email IT help us? I have a friend in China. I sent him messages all the time but suddenly things changed and all messages were rejected saying his user name unknown or something like that. He gave me a new email address and it worked for a while but then suddenly it stopped working: I never received a bouncing back note but he claims never received my note. What's going on?

- Haha... Ling Hu's joke is very good. I also apprciate the woman's candid monologue, but now I know exctly what kind of women I should not choose as my wife or my son's wife, for our happiness and hers too. But maybe that is just wishful thinking, if all women grew older becoming this type after marriage. Maybe that's why Jia Baoyu in the Dreams of Red Chamber only likes young girls but not older espacially married women. No malice to females. And sincerely wish she and others like her find males who suit th

- [RE:] 被改编的标题――『“人民文革”说驳难』Posted by 自立 on 02/26/2006. zxd commented once.Amazing. Who puts out such a left wing website? I can't believe it. So things are so hard to die. By the way, my book appears in this conservative superstore, under the subject of China: http://www.philvalentine.com/Subject1.htm So the world is not small and it can go far apart. Anyway, I was amazed by how far it can go either way.

- Posted by zili on 02/26/2006. zxd commented 2 times. The whole debate seems "too much fuss about nothing" unless I misread some hidden agenda or intention of the authors. One of them already admits: 那么,“文化大革命”到底是什么?“文化大革命”只是一个历史时期的名称。That is correct. But then he wrote: “文革”可以分解成为“官方文革”和“人民文革”,并不是说在1966年初夏到1968年夏中国社会有两个各不相属的“文革”。

- Since you seem to be sincere in asking for honest comments, here is a few. The title mislead me and I thought it is one of those "much feeling about nothing" type of writing. And a glimpse of the beginning seems to have confirmed my guess. So I skipped and stopped reading. But obviously I misunderstood it and missed the later part about second spring, which is good and important. You had a point and have it written well. The comparisons with first spring and icewine are both good. This may sound con

Posted by zili on 02/20/2006. zxd commented 2 times.I feel strongly agreeing with Zili's article on "People's Revolution," but I'm not quite understanding the context of his article. Please forgive my ignorance. Who are the suppoased targets of his arguement? When was this article written? The current Chinese government is not holding such a view. Is any acholars in mainland China holding such a view right now? Some oversea Chinese or Western scholars holding such a view? My feeling is that most people inside China are not caring about this issue anymore. Mo

But I disagree with Maya deleting her own writing on her visit to Mr. Fang. It was a great piece of writing and reveals a whole lot of truth. What is literature for? It's for revealing the whole truth, not some trivial details but something called whole truth, the truth that is truly amazing. That piece of writing does not belittle M
