语言可不分高下，或者说不可分高下。说到底，高下乃主观人为决定的，不容易统一，形成客观标准。但确有深浅厚薄、简繁快慢之分。视具体运用作选择划分比较合式。浓缩深厚未必一律都好，浅白明畅亦有令人欢喜的时候和地方。讨论应尽量不使用褒贬之词方可深入。象罔学问好，欢迎多传道，可以让我们看得深透一些。

昨晚看电视上竞选时刚好随手翻书，忽然看到曹聚仁引用于右任的一首诗，让我大笑。诸位看竞选容易上火，此诗可为良药。 “风虎云龙亦偶然，欺人青史话连篇；中原代有英雄出，各苦生民数十年。”

这条线还让不让人活了，非把咱不识拉丁、不懂外文的统统羞死不成？老尚译得真好，就是要求“字字言之有物”有点过了，“字字皆有用”就可以了，哪能字字成言、个个有物？其实E. B. White的这段话也够罗嗦的，而且没把问题说清楚，混淆了两个层面的东西：文字上的累赘和意思上的多余。也没指出到底该加哪些细节、哪些可以不要。我看他所加的绘画与机器的细节就有些多余。至少中文里就不用。不然一眼就看出是翻译而非原文。这就是语言的差异。还可以换个思路，不从单个字词入手，而从整篇文章着眼。那样的话，我看还是梁实秋说得最好：短的�

分析的不错。不过高罗佩后来自己创作的狄公，要比所有公案人物都更有人情味，比包公、施公、甚至济公都可爱(因为济公毕竟不是官，可以不付责任，自由的多，容易讨人喜欢)。更有意思的是，当年高罗佩写狄公故事的目的之一原本是想告示中国人，不必跟着西人走，模仿西方探案故事，中国古代就有很好的素材。不料他自己写出来的侦探故事再次比中国人技高一筹。我这次费了九牛二虎之力也未能超越，最多打个平手，各有千秋。丰富了人物内心，却疏于客观景物描写。所以至今我们已是三个回合，两负一平，甚至三局三负。全靠后死诸君多努力，不知猴年马月才能胜

Glad to know this piece of history. That 《屈原》was really good. It became a legend now, because no vedio or audio record exists now. Too bad. It was a great piece of art, many contributions and contributors, including Suqing, as now we know. But the reason that she didn't get award is not just because of her "historical problem". Playwriting in 越剧 was not commonly recognized as being that important, especially when it was not something original but adaptation. Both Mr. Zhou Xingfang and Mr. Zhao Dan alr

Ben Ben, This is a good poem, at least one of yours that I may understand, except for the last two lines. Others already mentioned here that the last line is hard to understand, but the one before that is also weak. Instead of an image, it refers to happiness, which seems hollow. The line above it is still a very good one, though. Otherwise I would suggest you drop the whole paragraph. Given the fact that the the first line of it is so good, I wish to see you follow up with two better lines afterwards. H

Since there is already a crowd here, please let me join in with a couple of paragraphs from my other writings: 前不久见到网上有人评论马慧元的，盛赞者有之，不以为然者亦有之。双方都承认马小姐文字精美、细腻，但质问方提出的问题是：音乐需要以精美的文字来描述刻画吗？绘画不需要文字来描绘(为盲人写的另论)，看就是了；音乐更不需要也不能够以文字来描绘(为聋子写的另论)，听就是了。写得精美，却有扭曲音乐的危险，并且还有矫情的可能。这番宏论倒是让人醍醐猛醒，很有见地。除去说明书一类的简短介绍或者技术性的分析解释，似乎大�

Thanks for sharing, Mr. 81. Each generation and every individual has some enviable and unique experience. It's up to you how and how much you got out of it. You certainly got a lot from it and we learned quite a bit too from your sharing.

I used "broken" with a quotation mark simply because I'm lazy and don't want to speall out the big word. The other point by Moab is well taken, i.e. an experienced author would try to avoid such a methodology, which for a beginner seems a good way to start. That's exactly my suggestion for her to try as her debut. Since you have such an ease to describe the complicated relationship I think you are gifted to write puzzling detective stories.
